Jeff Lewis‘s dinner date with estranged partner Gage Edward almost went off without a hitch, until the last five minutes, he says.
During Monday’s episode of his SiriusXM radio showJeff Lewis Live,theFlipping Outstarrevealed what occurred when the pair went to dinner together a little over a week after they separated following a 10-year relationship.
“Let’s put it this way: if it were a first date, I would not be going out with this person again,” Lewis said. “It was not a great date.” He added, “If I was with someone else, it would have been a great date.”
While Lewis claimed on Friday thatthe dinner he planned to take Edward to was “not a date,”on Monday’s episode, he repeatedly referred to it as such.
Lewis, 48, claims that the evening began with Lewis visiting Edward, 33, at his “fancy” new apartment, which he allegedly began renting after hemoved out of the homethey shared with theirtwo-year-old daughter, Monroe. Then, Lewis says the pair headed to dinner at the NoMad Hotel in Los Angeles.

Lewis says things turned sour after they sat down, when he claims Edward began “lecturing” him on what went wrong in their relationship.
“I was on my best behavior,” Lewis said. “I sat there and I listened, and I listened, and I listened. And I’ve been listening, for the last three weeks, to all the terrible s—t I’ve done and said. And I guess there’s a part of me who feels like I deserve it. So I take it and take it and take it.”
Lewis says toward the end of the meal, his patience was wearing thin and Edward decided to order dessert and extend the date.
“I just wanted it to end,” Lewis says. “I just wanted to leave, cause I realized this was a really bad idea.” He admits the meeting was “too soon” after their separation in late January, adding, “This should not have happened.”
That’s when he admitted his “wounded inner child” made an appearance — causing him to storm out of the restaurant.

Lewis says he messaged his estranged partner several more times, but received no response. He went back into the restaurant, but Edward was gone, he says. He found him waiting for an Uber on the other side of the hotel.
“I said, ‘Listen, this is silly, cancel the Uber, I’ll take you home.’ ‘Nope’ — got in the car, drove away. And that was the end of the evening.”
Edward told PEOPLE he had no comment on the situation.
Lewis also claimed last week thatEdward went on a romantic date of his own, with a man Lewis called “homewrecker,” days after he says Edward moved out of their shared home.
After reflecting on his actions, Lewis said he called Edward the next day to take responsibility for his actions and owned up to his behavior being the reason Edward decided to move out. He also admitted he thinks the pair moved too fast in attempting to reconcile.
“I actually don’t think we should be sharing a meal anytime soon,” he said.

Lewis hopes to make changes to his behavior, he says.
Lewis and Edward’s relationship troubles come on the heels of a tumultuous year for the couple both personally and professionally.

Trent’s doctor spoke out in supportof her claims, while Lewis has previously said that Trent signed away her right to privacy when she agreed to do the show and called the lawsuit a “financial shakedown.”
