James Middleton poses for a photograph with his dogs Inka, Luna, Ella and Mabel at a launch event for this year’s Crufts and Friends for Life in Green Park, London.

James MiddletonandAlizee Thevenetchose a name with (fictional!) royal ties for their son.

The site adds, “Inigo, almost unknown in the U.S., is an intriguing choice, with its strong beat, creative and evocative sound and associations with the great early British architect and stage designer Inigo Jones. The sixteenth-seventeenth century Jones shared his name with his father, a London clockmaker, who received it when Spanish names for boys were fashionable in England, especially among devout Roman Catholics.”

The official announcement of his son’s arrival came afterphotos showed James and Alizeepushing a stroller in the Notting Hill neighborhood of London.

“The dogs have been fantastic at welcoming their little brother into the pack (although Inka needs to know the teddybears are not all for her…),” James revealed of their six pets: Mabel, Zulu, Inka, Luna, Nala and Isla.

The first photo in the Instagram carousel featured a pin (which hewore to King Charles' coronationearlier this year) showing James' beloved dog Ella, whodied early this year. James credited his pup with introducing him to his wife, sharing in a 2019 piece forThe Telegraphthat he met Alizee because his cocker spaniel “made a beeline” for the French financial analyst at an event.

“We have settled into our new life as parents, and I’ve told him all about Ella and that if it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t be here today and that we miss her greatly,” James wrote.

After meetingin 2018, James and Alizeegot engageda year later andwedin France in September 2021 after theiroriginal wedding date was pushed backdue to the COVID-19 pandemic. The coupleannouncedover the summer that they were expecting their first child.
