‘Honey, I Shrunk the Art Show’ Is Full of Fantastically Tiny Portraits

Every artwork show involve a theme . perhaps it’sall the work of one creative person . Maybe it ’s allcentered on one subject . Some of the ideas are really , REALLY bighearted . And , in some cases , the idea is to keep it very , very belittled .

This Friday , Gallery 1988 will reveal a new on-line exhibit called “ Honey , I contract the Art Show , ” curated by two artists who love to make pocket-sized art : Tom Whalen and Dave Perillo . The io9 favorites have long teamed up with the Los Angeles galleryto do awesome shows , many of which have includedtiny pop - culture portrait . This sentence though , the Philadelphia - based friends thought bounteous , but also smaller .

“ Gallery 1988 reached out to us and asked us to make a new show for them , ” Whalen told io9 via e-mail . “ Dave and I cogitate after doing so many two - military man shows together , it might be fun to invite a bunch of our talented acquaintance to unite us in creating a curated show . We had a few idea , and eventually settled on an ‘ 80s themed show with a twist ; all part have to be 6 x 6 inches or less . Everyone that we invited run with the estimate and the results verbalize for themselves . ”

All part in the show will be on display and on sale onthe Gallery 1988 websitearound 2 p.m. ET on Friday , July 19 .

“ I ’ve been spoil to do trading poster for quite a while , ” he said . “ I find a vendor that produces high - caliber , low - tally trading cards , and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to establish my new line of small art pieces . If people react to them , I ’d love to continue the line with many , many more moving-picture show image . ”
