Battlestar Galactica is a beloved space opera house enfranchisement , but many people are only slightly familiar with its premiss , beyond orca robot and spaceship . That combination of name recognition and an empty varlet makes it consummate for Hollywood development . So it ’s unsurprising that producers are render to make a BSG picture yet again .
The Hollywood Reporterbroke the news of this new film adaptation . This time around , manufacturer Michael DeLuca ( The Social connection ) is teaming up with Bluegrass Films ( Ted , Battleship ) to shape the property into a dealership starter at Universal Pictures . However , they ’re so early in the process there are n’t even any writers on board .
Battlestar has had a twisted journeying over the retiring 15 old age . Bryan Singeralmost made a Battlestar television showin 2001,until the 9/11 attacks spooked execsbecause it begins with a terrorist attack . Singerlater stress to make a movie versionthat would unite the original 1970s show and the Syfy version . And meanwhile Syfy ’s boob tube version made huge waves , but Syfy ’s attack to pursue it up — with TV movies , a prequel call Caprica , and another prequel called Blood and Chrome — fell flat .
Back in 2013,we broke the newsthat Syfy was done with BSG , and that Singer ’s film appear to be so long on the back burner as to be ice cold . ThenUniversal make up one’s mind to start up over from lolly with a Modern writer(Transcendence ’s Jack Paglen ) , but that effort apparently went nowhere .
As evidenced by the original seventies television show and particularly the reboot from the 2000s , Battlestar comes with a slap-up premiss and unnumbered story possibilities . That premiss , of path , is that humankind are forced to forget their menage planet when an alien race , the Cylons , destroy the bulk of humanity . The only ship remaining , the Galactica , is tasked with finding a piazza for the now endangered human race to uphold life-time — sooner the fabulous major planet named Earth .
If this film is just extend into development now , best instance scenario the movie would n’t be out for at least three or four age . Or , in three or four year , we relate back to this story , when another endeavour to make a BSG movie is launched .
