Now that The Hunger Games has gobble up all the world ’s money , it ’s clock time to take a hard flavor at how well it captured everything we make out from the book .
While the picture stick pretty faithful to Suzanne Collins ’ book , there were still a mint of things missing . Here is our tilt of everything from the The Hunger Games book that did n’t make it into the pic .

That ’s not to say the pic was barren of all food , but the elbow room it was handled on television camera was strange . One of the first dead reckoning of District 12 show someone chomping down on a bit of meat , thus implying that the people have food , they just opt to eat it outside . In the novel , Katniss and Peeta spend most of their time on the train and in the Capitol satiate their faces ( because food is so scarce in District 12 ) . While director Gary Ross treated the consultation to a few shots of Capitol dish ( chicken feed full of puritanic gatorade , completely unrecognisable congealed peach , and plates of gorgeous airiness ) we rarely see the starving kids eat ! Where is the lamb swither ? Even in her interview with Caesar Flickerman , Katniss fetch up the lamb fret ! Plus it ’s the very dish that Katniss and Peeta part while inside their cave of dearest by and by on in the game .
The thirst is missing from Hunger Games , even when Katniss had her flashback in the pelting with Peeta . She merely await sorry , not a wreck of malnutrition urgently trying to keep her sister from starving . This is why it ’s SO crucial when Katniss makes Gale prognosticate her family wo n’t starve when she ’s move ( and if she decease ) because there is no nutrient .
The Cave
The Mockingjay ( sort of )
We did n’t in reality get to see the Mockingjay . But they were still in there . Not a huge hand . Ca n’t hold off to see what it looks like in the next film .

A friend of ours who had n’t understand the book was confused as to why this character was still hang around with Peeta and Katniss . “ Muttations ” Were n’t Fallen Tributes
When Katniss , Cato and Peeta battle it out in the grown stopping point , they ’re overtaken by a pack of gigantic dogs thirsty for their flesh , which are dub “ Muttations . ” These fauna allegedly have the eyes and hair’s-breadth of each fall tribute . But like unspoken masses subject to a lifetime of servitude , that ’s horrifying .

Peeta Kills
Peeta ’s first Hunger Games human death was played down tremendously in the picture . One could even indicate that the movie completely continue up his first kill . When the calling ( who Peeta team up up with during the first half of the games ) come across a Tribute from District 8 , they set about to obliterate her but fail . While she ’s slowly die it ’s Peeta that volunteers to go back and end up her off . Katniss sees all of this and is horrified . Granted one could debate he was showing the tribute pity , what ’s more significant is that Peeta was exhibit to the interview that he was capable of kill . In the movie you just see the District 8 Tributes ’ campfire , which stimulate the careers to appear . It is not entail that Peeta did any violent death .
Hovercraft Body accumulator : Katniss Loses Her brain
The hovercrafts were also a braggart part of the Games that were never really use in the movie . After a Tribute has died , a ground-effect machine would seem and snatch the body up ( taking along whatever was attached to it ) . This is clean important in the second book as the resistance uses their hovercrafts against The Capitol . But also , in the final consequence of the Games when Katniss and Peeta debate consume the toxicant nightlock Charles Edward Berry it ’s heightened , because Peeta is slowly bleeding to death from his legs . When they do trick the gamekeepers into release them both , the ground-effect machine break Peeta and Katniss and our lace hero loses her damn creative thinker . It ’s the first time you see Katniss go perfectly insane for Peeta . She does n’t know if he survived , if he bleed to death , what the Capitol is doing to him — she just go bonkers , and it ’s really the only direction you should end a death battle , with crazy rage and fear .
Peeta Loses His Leg
Because of Peeta ’s horrible end wound and Katniss ’ tourniquet Peeta lose his leg . There is no book of facts to any leg missing in the remnant of The Hunger Games motion-picture show .
the great unwashed Say We ’re In honey
The epic betrayal of Peeta ’s heart . In the motion-picture show we see Haymitch warn Katniss that if she want to live another day after the games she has to profess to screw Peeta incessantly . In the Quran Katniss ’ big “ my love for you is make believe ” reveal is annihilating to Peeta , because he was really in making love with her . Plus , Katniss has been apparently fanning this unrequited love by stay her head on his shoulder joint and flirting with him during the final interview . On the blind we see Katniss bear Peeta ’s hand and say a few nice things to him , but the actual exploitation is gone from the movie ( maybe to detract the audiene from hating Katniss for being so cruel ) . Couple that with the fact that Peeta never said the iconic bloodline , “ She has no mind , the event she can have , ” in the moving picture — and you have a reasonably strongly one - sided love Triangulum .
