Many of us have jailbroken our iPhones , but did everyone call up to change the default root password ? Those shamefaced of that oversight are vulnerable to the dim-witted encroachment method this guy used to entertain iPhones hostage in the Netherlands .
Apparently all that it took to terrorize many Dutch iPhone users was a “ trivial ” port scanning proficiency and “ a modicum of networking know - how . ” After the hacker gained access to the jailbroken phone with unaltered root passwords and SSH enable , he sent the pictured content which lead to a demand for a € 5 PayPal defrayment and quarrel of carefulness :
If you do n’t bear , it ’s fine by me , but remember , the manner I get access to your iPhone can be used by chiliad of others - they can send schoolbook messages from your number ( like I did ) , apply it to call or immortalise your calls , and really whatever they desire , even expend it for their hacking activities ! I can ascertain you , I have no design of harming you or whatever , but , some hackers do ! It ’s just my advice to insure your telephone .

This particular gentleman was almost genial . He did n’t inflict any serious harm , only demanded a low optional defrayment , and set his activity to the Netherlands . Whoever discover from his plan of attack might not be as skillful . The moral , my darlings ? Change your root parole or disable SSH if you ’ve got a jailbroken iPhone . I finally did .
