Next summer Coney Island is fix back a little bit of its former glorification with a conversant roller coaster . Some 14 year after it was demolish , the once renowned thunderclap coaster is howl back onto the boardwalk at 65 knot per hour .
The former Thunderbolt thrilled patrons from 1925 until 1982 before it was rupture down to make way for the Cyclones baseball squad in 2000 . You might call back seeing the master in Woody Allen ’s “ Annie Hall , ” back in 1977 . But next summer , a brand - Modern and ameliorate Thunderbolt with over 2,000 foot of track and a 125 - fundament tower will be nestled aright next to the baseball stadium , near the new B&B luggage carrousel . The steel coaster wo n’t really take you up to 125 feet , though . It ’ll just take you up a perpendicular lift of 110 feet before making your stomach drop .
Once rider reach the top of the lift , the wagon train will be unleash onto the first vertical drop and then through a series of element and inversions while travel at 65 mph . The ride will then make its return through a series of “ bunny hills ” that will give passenger a floating sensation until the train returns back into the station .
