We were a little sceptical about the Fright Night remake , but it ’s beget awe-inspiring bombilation .
Chris Sarandon : Well it should get awe-inspiring buzz , because it ’s a terrific movie . I saw it last week and I just intend they ’ve really pinpoint it .
So now you say “ nailed it , ” what are the three matter that a Fright Night remaking has to have in parliamentary procedure to fascinate the original ?
Humor — a faithful view of the genre as being something that you’re able to have fun with but not of necessity make fun of . Terror — it ’s a very shivery drive , this movie . And also , the family relationship are really strong , which makes the movie lick much good . Because always , to me , when you ’re deal with this kind of writing style , you demand to have relationships that the hearing identifies with , so that they go along for the ride and they really care about what happens to the character reference . So I think those three elements are the things that they nailed all the way through .
Colin Farrell is playing your role in the reboot . Are there any small moves or hat bakshish that you caught him doing , since you visualize the motion-picture show , that you kind - of did as the original Jerry .
Well I think they were very lovely about doing , which was they added a couple of things that were n’t in the script . Jerry ’s eat yield , a few things like that that really are from the pilot that give you a sense that we deal about the original , we loved it , but we ’re moving in our own directions as well .
You guys both eat yield [ in the cinema ] it is the scariest means I ’ve ever seen anyone eat fruit ever . It ’s an apple , correct ?
In this one , it ’s an apple , but in the original , Jerry run through all kinds of fruit because it was just sort of something I discovered by search it — that most bat are not blood - sucking , but they ’re fruit bats . And I thought well maybe somewhere in Jerry ’s family tree , there ’s yield squash racquet in him , so that ’s why I did it .
That ’s absolutely vivid , and it makes perfect sensory faculty , too . I ’m also odd , it ’s middling iconic , the dance scene with the song and the whole conquest . Is that asseverate in this remake ?
It is , to a certain extent . They do n’t act it as strongly in this one as we did in the original , but I think it does n’t matter because by then , you ’re really on the , ‘ Will he get her or wo n’t he get her ? Will the son be able to save the lady friend ? ’ No , he does n’t — what ’s going to happen ? It ’s much more in that mineral vein of sort - of plot of ground motor rather than being the psycho - sexual affair , because that happens sooner in the film anyway .
A big fear with everyone is the fact that everything ’s CG now . And you were so horrifying in your transformation . Did they decide to use prosthetics ? Did they settle to use latex in this film ? And is it scary ?
They do , [ and it ’s ] very terrific . The makeup is really good , but they do n’t exaggerate it , which I think is authoritative and I think they do it quite well and utilize it really wondrous .
Is it dead on target that you ’re really in the picture show ?
I ca n’t unwrap that information , except to say that come to the movie and see .
I swear to god , I almost fainted when he severalise me about the fruit . OF COURSE HE ’S PART FRUIT BAT ! Amazing . The Fright Night reboot strike theaters on August 19th .
