Itold you .
The government of Canada is ban the Flipper Zero , the tiny , modular hacking machine that ’s become popular with techie for its deviant digital powers . In apress releaseissued Thursday , the Canadian Minister of Public Safety ’s office said it would be pursue “ all boulevard to ban gadget used to slip vehicle by copying the wireless signals for remote keyless accounting entry , such as the Flipper Zero . ” The statement followed a summit that was focused on “ finding solutions to the growing challenge of auto theft in Canada . ”
The Flipper , which is technically a penetration quiz machine , has been controversial due to its power to whoop droves of impertinent product . Anumberofvideos onlinewould look to show railroad car being manipulated and unlocked via the Flipper . “ Flipper Zero ca n’t be used to hijack any car , specifically the 1 produced after the 1990s , since their security system have pealing code . Also , it ’d take actively obturate the sign from the owner to capture the original sign , which Flipper Zero ’s hardware is incapable of doing . Flipper Zero is intended for security examination and development and we have involve necessary precautions to insure the equipment ca n’t be used for villainous purposes ”
Manyvideos onlineclaim to show machine being rig or unlocked via the Flipper . YouTubers and TikTokers have uploaded picture where they appear to hack vehicle ’ central fob quite well using the twist . Kulagin said that many of “ these video recording are either engagement baits or showcase very previous vehicle ” and that even “ if you ’d be able to record the signaling and open it , Flipper ca n’t reverse on the car . And for any modern fomite with rolling codes , it ’s practically useless . ”
Even if the Flipper is n’t considered a culprit in Canada ’s car theft woes , it should be pointed out that hacking modern cars isnotoriously soft . Major car producer ’ cybersecurityis terrible , and it seems unmanageable to imagine that banning the Flipper will make any serious scratch in their security problem .

Lo and behold , this seems to be a big one . fellow member of the tech community voiced their displeasure on X after the news about the proscription began to circulate online Friday morning .

“ you could use screwdrivers to steal elevator car too , ” anotheruser posted , sarcastically .

“ If you sleep with anything about technology you would know the flipper and others are just unproblematic ARM C.P.U. with basic sensors attach , ” saidanother user . “ Nothing ground breaking this will not stop a thing but crap it reckon like your doing something . The trick of pol everywhere and it is why people are feed up of you as everything else just crumbles . ”
