Apple is claiming that Epic Games require for a “ special deal ” to bypass its in - app leverage policies ina filingit released today . According toCNBC , former Apple Senior Vice President Phil Schiller , now a Fellow with the troupe , say Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney asked “ for a ‘ side missive ’ from Apple that would make a particular deal for only Epic that would basically exchange the way in which Epic volunteer apps on Apple ’s iOS program . ”

“ We hope that Apple will also make these option equally uncommitted to all iOS developer , ” said Sweeney near the end of the 4th paragraph . While it is in Epic Games vested stake to negotiate for a blue commission defrayment to Apple or the ability to side - lade its own fund onto iOS devices , it appears that Sweeney does make clear that he need the same option available for all developers , not just Epic Games .
