A golden Easter egg led to an unlikely drug bust after Alabama law enforcement agents made a traffic stop Monday morning, April 1.
Investigators found 176 fentanyl pills stuffed inside two plastic eggs, according to a Colbert County Sheriff’s Officepress release, which included a photograph of the bagged drugs alongside the opened eggs.
Colbert County Drug Task Force agents stopped Jamarious Dequan Qualls in Tuscumbia, Ala., at around 11:45 a.m. Easter Monday, and asked to search the man’s vehicle, per the sheriff’s office.
During the search, the agents allegedly determined that Qualls, 29, had outstanding warrants for his arrest on misdemeanors in another city in the county, the release says.

As the drug agents placed him under arrest, they allegedly located the two Easter eggs – one metallic gold, the other orange – per the press release and photographs authorities released of the drug seizure.
Investigators also found a plastic bag with 10 ounces of the synthetic cannabis known as “spice," the release alleges.
He was booked into Colbert County Jail Monday afternoon and held on a $150,000 bond.

The Colbert County Circuit Court clerk’s office confirmed the fentanyl-trafficking related charges but said that no court date had yet been entered into their system as of Wednesday afternoon, April 3.
In that earlier case, Qualls had been placed on a pretrial diversion program for two counts of possession of a controlled substance last year.
That previous criminal case would have been dismissed if Qualls paid court costs and prosecutor fees within a two-year period, according to the clerk’s office.
Moon tells PEOPLE he has not been retained to represent Qualls in connection with his recent arrest and he declined comment.
