agent of SHIELD returned last night with an instalment that hire place completely within the Hydra - dominated pretending in the Framework . And even though everything we see is “ fake , ” it ’s allowed the show to reverberate our human beings in the way only dystopia can .
Last night ’s instalment was n’t exactly subtle in its power point , but sometimes niceness is less important than taking a stand . And , boy , did it .
The Hydra - run world in the Framework is some of the good stuff Agents of SHIELD has ever done , and it ’s all in the warp of things we have sex closely . And even with scenes like Simmons turn over herself out of her own grave and Fitz ’s alternate ego being a terrifying boogieman jazz as “ the Dr. , ” the most chilling view is actually Mr. Coulson ’s deterrent example in Hydra - approved account .

It ’s an unflinching tackling of current event and in Marvel comic the right way now . First , Coulson talk about how the humanity , pre - Hydra takeover , pose the interests of individuals over the state and that it was a “ muddle . ” Back then , he says , “ They had their own Sojourner Truth , their own culture medium , their own agendas . ”
It ’s a situation that sound awfully intimate . SHIELD ’s writers lean even harder into current event by reframing Melinda May ’s notorious Bahrain mission as what open Hydra its excuse to take over . There was a refugee from Bahrain , explains Coulson . “ A lady friend , likeable . Even though SHIELD knew she was Inhuman , they take her back to the States and put her into a schoolroom . The remainder is chronicle . ”
“ But what inspires me is the way our country reacted , the way we come together . When no one would say us the truth , Hydra step forward . They bring us police and Holy Order . function , ” continues Coulson . “ They galvanized us for the goodness of the state over individual interests . ”

And that ’s when one of Coulson ’s scholar make for up that Hydra ’s origins as the scientific arm of Nazi Germany . Coulson ’s reaction ?
“ That ’s not true . Never say that . ”
“ Anyone who ’s inform know that Hydra originated centuries ago . So they could n’t be Nazis . That ’s just propaganda . But this is good . This register how crucial it is to separate fact from insinuation . ”

The writers are n’t pulling any punches here . The proliferation of fake tidings and attempts to fight it are tied to Caesarism . The care of Inhumans was explicitly tied to refugees . And nazi should be call Nazis .
The issue of false intelligence was the most nuanced . In just a few word , the show points out that the problem stems from freedom of speech and insistency . And that , while we ’d like documentary truths to endure , you may easily stop up with dictator abusing the state of affairs to curb things .
Agents of SHIELD also wants you to have it away that when anyone in this show says “ Hydra , ” you should discover “ Nazis . ” While argument rages about that recording label , Agents of SHIELD ’s sticking intemperately to the estimate that you ca n’t furcate sealed idea and organization from their blood line . Later in the episode , Simmons say , “ For the criminal record , Hydra ? They ’re all Nazis . Every last one of them and do n’t you let anyone forget it . ”

The show ’s turned Aida into Madame Hydra , and Hydra is once again the chief villain of the series . And with this sequence , Agents of SHIELD is making sure we recall that , no matter what euphemisms we may hear — and from the rima oris of type we love — we’re dealing with Nazis . And cutting through bullshit to the core of things seems to be a theme the show wants its audience to comprehend .
