Galaxies are aggregation of stars , accelerator , rubble and dark subject held together by graveness . Their appearance and penning are shape over 1000000000 of year by interactions with groups of stars and other galaxies . Using supercomputers , scientists can see back in time and model how a wandflower may have mold in the former universe and produce into what we see today . Galaxies are thought to set out as minuscule cloud of stars and dust swirling through space . As other clouds get close , gravity sends these objects reel into one another and cockle them into big spinning packs . Subsequent collision can sling material toward a galaxy ’s fringe , creating extensive spiraling arms filled with colonies of principal .
